ViewBoard Basics: Install vCastSender App to Enable Touchscreen

What is vCastSender?

vCastSender is an application designed by ViewSonic to enable wireless screen sharing from a computer and direct annotation on a ViewBoard. This software is required to enable touchscreen interaction (touchback) when a laptop is casting to the display.

BPSTechnology (OIIT) support for vCastSender will be discontinued effective August 2026. This is due to security issues with the application no longer being support by Google apps and Google Chrome. We strongly recommend switching to AirSync for a seamless, supported screen-sharing experience.

Getting Started

Turn on the ViewBoard and be sure that it is connected to the internet. This can either be with an ethernet cable connected to a wall port, or over WiFi.

How to Install vCastSender on a Mac

First time casting from vCastSender to ViewSonic touchboard, MacOS will pop-up message to ask for audio authorization for vCastSender. Choose agree, or there will be no sound.

If you must continue using vCastSender until the August 2026 deadline, this will require manual installation and maintenance. Please note that OIIT cannot assist with troubleshooting or security issues related to this software.

  1. Direct Download: Navigate to the to source the installer directly from ViewSonic's page.
  2. Select OS: Download the version specific to your operating system (Windows or macOS).
  3. Manual Setup: Run the installer and follow the Setup Wizard.
  4. Security Permissions (macOS 10.14+): To function, the app requires deep system access. You must manually grant these in System Settings > Privacy & Security:
    • Accessibility: Toggle vCastSender to ON.
    • Screen & System Audio Recording: Toggle vCastSender to ON.

How to install on Windows

If the device you are using is not provided by BPS to connect to a ViewBoard for instruction or administrative purposes, you can use these same steps to install vCastSender.
  1. On the ViewBoard, click open the vCast app to bring up the blue and white vCast Connect & Collaborate screen.

  1. Visit the website IP address listed on the ViewBoard's screen, and when prompted, enter the "PIN-Code". The PIN-Code is the password on the ViewBoard's screen, after the phrase, "Please open the vCastSender app to enter the password."

  1. Select the appropriate Windows download.*
  1. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation process.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions of the vCastSender Setup Wizard.
  3. Click "Next," or "Finish" to complete the process.
Select the vCastSender installer that is appropriate for your non-BPS issued device.*
