How to access Clever at School

Kevin Arias Updated by Kevin Arias

What is Clever?

Clever is a portal of teacher-approved applications that students and educators can use in the classroom. Clever-integrated applications are enabled with single-sign on and sync automatically to our Student Information System (SIS) to create student accounts and update classroom rosters. The portal also allows for customizations that may or may not be integrated.

There are two ways to access Clever:

  • use your BPS Gmail and password
  • sign in with a Clever Badge

Option 1: Use your BPS Gmail and password.

  1. Go to www.clever.com/in/bostonpublic.
  2. Press the "Log in with Google" button. You should login with your BPS Gmail and password.

Option 2: Sign in with a Clever Badge.

On a BPS-managed Chromebook

Turn on the Chromebook and click “Next” at the login screen to be presented with the camera window. If students want to login with their Gmail account, they should click “Sign in with a different account” instead.

On Mac and Windows Devices

Go to the Clever login screen by visiting www.clever.com/in/bostonpublic. Click the QR code icon to the right of the "Login with Google" button to be presented with the camera window.

On an iOS Device

Download the Clever app from the App Store on your iOS device. Once installed, badges can be used to log into Clever.

You cannot login to backpack from the Safari or Chrome browsers on an iPad. You must also download and install the learning application on your iOS device.
On an Android Device

The Clever app is not available for Android devices, but you can still access Clever using Badges on an Android device by visiting www.clever.com/in/bostonpublic through a web browser.

Tip: Visit Clever Support for more information about Badges.
