How to Help Students Who Are Unable to Join Zoom Meetings with User Authentication

"Connecting" wheel of death issue/refreshing login screen:

  1. Everything has to go through "SSO," which is an authentication method tied to the student's BPS Gmail.
  2. The easiest way to do this is to have students begin by logging into Clever.
  3. Then, within Clever, the student navigates to however they find their Zoom links (Gmail, Google Classroom, etc.)
  4. When the student clicks on the Zoom link, it will bring them to Zoom. Then this screen pops up:
  5. Click the "x" at the top right hand corner of the pop-up.
  6. Delete the "Meeting ID" number (otherwise it will attempt to log the student in incorrectly).
  7. Instead of "Join a meeting," select "Sign In."
  8. Select "Sign in with Google." The student will have to type in their BPS credentials.
  9. SSO is now authenticated.
  10. Student may return to the classroom link. This time, the student should be able to access the Zoom classroom.

TIP: If a student is using a home device (NOT a BPS Chromebook), please make sure they are running the latest version of Zoom.
