How to access StudySync

Rhianon Gutierrez Updated by Rhianon Gutierrez

What is StudySync? Who has access?

StudySync is a comprehensive ELA curriculum. Teachers have access to both a full set of standards-based Core ELA Units, as well as an ever-growing library of resources.

StudySync is available to ELA, ESL, and humanities classes grades 6-12.

New to StudySync schools need to onboard with an ELA program director and by registering with an Opt-In Form. If a school already using Studysync is wanting to add more classes (ESL, AP), please connect with Sharon Abraham.

How do I access StudySync?

Log in to Clever at www.bostonpublicschools.org/backpack using your BPS email and password.

Teachers with ELA/ESL/Humanities sections in Aspen
Login to Clever as Teacher. Go to the District Page tab and look for the red McGraw Hill logo under Virtual Learning Sites.

Once you click the McGraw Hill logo, you should see a page that lists your rostered classes. You do not need to add students to these classes; all student data comes from Aspen.

If a teacher has access to more than one curriculum from the McGraw Hill app, after signing in, the icons on the right lower screen should allow access to the curricula.
School Leaders
Login to Clever as Staff. Go to the Portal tab and look for the red McGraw Hill logo under Virtual Learning Sites.

School Leaders can see whole school data for StudySync classes by clicking on StudySync in their McGraw Hill ConnectED portal.

If you are interested in seeing the curriculum to demo it to teachers, you can create your own class and add StudySync by following the directions here.
Schoolwide Coaches or Directors of Instruction
These roles will not have automatic access to StudySync because they may not have classes in Aspen. There are three options to access StudySync based on your need:

1. I need access to schoolwide data across multiple apps: Principals/Heads of School must submit that a coach should have an admin role in Clever for all applications using the Clever Access & App Integration Request Form. Once this access has been granted, coaches can login using the School Leader method above.

2. I need access to data from the specific ELA or humanities classes that are using StudySync: Coaches can be added by their school registrar to an ELA class as a co-teacher to have teacher access to the platform and curriculum. Once this access has been granted, coaches can login using the Teacher method above.

3. I just need access to the curriculum (not data): Email the BPS ELA department to get a manual account (if you do not have one). Once your account has been created, login at my.mheducation.com with your BPS email. You will need to reset your password when logging in for the first time.

If you want to demo the curriculum to teachers, you can create your own class and add StudySync by following the directions here.

How do I use StudySync?

Implementation models are flexible and built for the blended classroom, with both print and digital materials, tools to help engage students and differentiate instruction, and lesson plans full of suggested activities and ways to utilize these materials during whole group, small group, and individual time. StudySync provides guidance and best practice recommendations for all of these materials and tools, and lessons can be sent to students quickly and easily, but teachers also have the ability to customize assignments and modify instruction to target different learning needs. StudySync is built to help teachers design instruction for their specific classrooms and students.
