What are Clever Badges and how do they work?
Clever badges are QR codes students can use to log into BPS-supported Chromebooks and applications on the Clever portal. Badges are associated with a student's BPS Google account so users do not need to type in a username or password.
How to print an entire class set of Clever Badges
- Log into the Clever Portal using your BPS credentials.
- Navigate to the Student Roster tab under My Students in the left-hand menu.
- Select the desired Class.
- Click Download class badges. This will download all Badges for eligible students in your class.
How to re-print or create a new Clever Badge for a student
To re-print a badge:
- Navigate to the Student Roster tab under My Students in the left-hand menu.
- Select the student's class.
- Select the student from your roster and click Download Badge.
- The Badge will download to your computer, which you can print and give to the student.
To create a new badge:
- Navigate to the Student Roster tab under My Students in the left-hand menu.
- Select the student's class.
- Select the student from your roster and click Void Badge.
- The Badge will be voided. You can then click Download Badge to download a brand new Badge for that student.
How to login using Clever Badges
On a BPS managed Chromebook: Turn on the Chromebook and click “Next” at the login screen to be presented with the camera window. If students want to login with their Gmail account, they should click “Sign in with a different account” instead.
Mac and Windows devices: Go to the Clever login screen by visiting www.clever.com/in/bostonpublic. Click the QR code icon to the right of the "Login with Google" button to be presented with the camera window.
iOS: Download the Clever app from the App Store on your iOS device. Once installed, badges can be used to log into Clever. The Clever iOS app can log students and teachers into the native version of an app.You cannot login to backpack from the Safari or Chrome browsers on an iPad. You must also download and install the learning application on your iOS device.
Android: The Clever app is not available for Android devices, but you can still access Clever using Badges on an Android device by visiting www.clever.com/in/bostonpublic through a web browser.
