MAP FLUENCY (Grades K2-2)

How do students take MAP Fluency?

Students access the test by clicking the ORANGE MAP Fluency link in Clever or go directly to student.mapnwea.org. To login, students enter their BPS email address and a password, provided by their teacher.

A BPS Chromebook is the recommended device but any device will work as long as the operating system is up to date and it is running the latest version of Google Chrome, which is the required browser. If a student is using an iPad, they can use Chrome or download the MAP Fluency App. Headphones are highly recommended but not required. Testing can occur synchronously or asynchronously. The test is self-guided and teachers do not need to actively proctor while students are testing.

MAP GROWTH (Grades 3-11)

How do students take MAP Growth?

Students access the test by clicking the GREEN MAP Growth link in Clever or go directly to test.mapnwea.org/#/nopopup (Note: this is a NEW URL that opens the test in the browser, rather than as a separate window). To login, students enter the test session name and password, provided by their teacher.

MAP Growth Common Issues and Solutions
NEW! Student Cannot Login (Blue Arrow Issue)

This occurs when a student enters the session name and password on the login screen but the ‘Blue Arrow’ does not light up and the student cannot proceed to the next page. The cause for this error is unknown. To resolve, refresh the browser, re-enter the session name and password, and instead of clicking the ‘Blue Arrow’, press ‘Enter’ on the keyboard.

NEW! Error Message ‘Student is Unable to Test’

This error message appears when a student tries to take a test they have already completed or their test was ‘terminated’ (ie: erased) by their teacher. Teachers can check if the student finished the test by generating a ‘Class Report’. If the student has tested successfully, their data will be in this report. If not, contact ODA for further assistance via email at formatives@bostonpublicschools.org.

NEW! Test Freezes or Student is Logged Out

This occurs when a student’s internet connection is lost or bandwidth is low. To avoid this, have students turn off their video in Zoom while they are testing and close any other open applications before beginning testing.

‘Workstation Readiness Check’ Error

This screen appears when a student attempts to access the test login page but their device does not meet the minimum requirements for the test. The error message will indicate what the problem is with the student’s device. Most commonly, it is a screen resolution issue, which needs to be set to 100% (minimum requirement is 1024x728). To reset the screen resolution, use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+0 (zero) for Chromebooks and Ctrl+0 (zero) on a personal Windows device and then refresh the browser. Other device errors are usually related to out-dated operating systems or software. For full system requirements, see the NWEA System Requirements Guide.
