MAP Troubleshooting

MAP FLUENCY (Grades K2-2)

How do students take MAP Fluency?

There is a link in Clever to the test login page for students or they can go directly to student.mapnwea.org.

If a student is using a BPS Chromebook or another PC device, they must take the assessment in Chrome. If they are using an iPad, they can use Chrome or they can download the MAP Fluency App. Headphones are not required but are recommended, especially if a student does not have a quiet place at home to test.

MAP GROWTH (Grades 3-11)

How do students take MAP Growth?

There is a link in Clever to the test login page for students or they can go directly to test.mapnwea.org.

We recommend testing on a BPS Chromebook, but any device that connects to the internet can be used to test, as long as the system and software are fully up-to-date. Google Chrome is the recommended browser for testing. Headphones are not required but are recommended, especially if a student does not have a quiet place at home to test.
Common Issue #1: Workstation Readiness Error

If a student tries to access the test login page and sees an error message saying their device does not meet the minimum requirements to run MAP Growth, the screen resolution needs to be set to 100% (minimum requirement is 1024x728). To resolve the screen resolution issue, use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+0 (zero) for Chromebooks and Ctrl+0 (zero) on a personal Windows device. Other workstation errors are usually related to running an out-dated system or software. To run a check on the device to see EXACTLY what is being flagged, have them go here: https://check.nwea.org/  For full system requirements, see the Device and System Guidance from NWEA.

Common Issue #2: "Oops, Where’s my Testing Window?" Error

If a student sees this error screen it means that either: 1) they need to disable the pop-up blocker or 2) that the student accidentally minimized or closed the login page. BPS Chromebooks are set for all students to allow popups right now. It's likely not the issue if a student is using a BPS device, though very possible if a student is using a personal device. This setting carries over to their Chrome Browser, running on Mac or Windows, so have the student log into the Chrome browser with their BPS Gmail address. They might not know how to do this. Sometimes Chrome asks for you log in when you open it, or else go here: https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=chromiumsync

The teacher could chat this link to the student via Hangouts Chat, or email it to the student.

If it’s not a pop-up issue, then the test login window is in the background or was closed. Check for the background pop up to be minimized or behind the main window.
