How to access the Health Services Staff Training

What is the Health Services Staff Training? Who should complete this training?

As stewards of both student learning and well-being, these modules are crafted to empower BPS teachers with the essential knowledge and skills they need to ensure the safety and health of their school communities. This training is designed for all teachers in the Boston Public Schools.

School Leaders should add this training to individual school handbooks for teacher reference and access to resources.

How do I enroll in the training on BPSLearns?

  1. Go to BPSLearns at: learn.bostonpublicschools.org.
  2. Click to Sign in with Google. Make sure that you use your BPS email. A personal Gmail will not work.
Please note: If you are new to BPSLearns, it will take a few moments to sign in. Only people with BPS emails and six-digit BPS IDs can self-enroll in the training.

What is the content and how long will it take to complete?

This asynchronous training is divided into 7 modules you can move through at your own pace. The first two modules are required, while the next five are optional. Altogether, if done in one sitting, the modules take 1 hour to complete. The first two required modules are about 15 minutes each.

How is my completion tracked?

This training has seven total modules.

Module 1 (Bloodborne Pathogens) and Module 2 (Life-Threatening Allergies) are required annual trainings for all classroom teachers. You are required to watch videos, review slides, and complete 2 quizzes (1 per module) to satisfy this requirement. The quizzes at the end of Modules 1 and 2 are in a Google Form where your completion is tracked. 

Modules 3-7 are optional and should be taken in consultation with your School Nurse. They include resources, external websites to bookmark, and checks for understanding.
